A 12-year-old boy was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon after getting off a school bus in Escambia County.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. at Muldoon Road and La Ventana Drive in Bellview.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, an Escambia County school bus was stopped facing west on La Ventana Drive, unloading school children at the intersection of Muldoon Road. A 12-year-old Pensacola boy exited the school bus on La Ventana Drive and walked west toward Muldoon Road.

“As he attempted to cross Muldoon Road to reach Perkins Street, he walked directly into the path of a northbound white sedan driven by a 25-year-old Pensacola woman,” FHP says.

The 12-year-old was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No further details have been released.
