Driver accused of hitting, killing pedestrian arrested after returning to crash site

A 29-year-old man was hit by a car while walking on the side of the road in Marion County on Wednesday morning, Florida Highway Patrol says. The man was pronounced deceased on scene.

It happened just after 8 a.m. on County Road 200A when a silver Ford Explorer was traveling northbound approaching NE 110th Street.

The pedestrian was walking along the east shoulder of County Road 200A when he was hit.

FHP said the driver failed to stop and left the scene, but returned an hour later, admitted to the crash and was arrested.

The driver was identified as M, 29, of Marion County. He faces a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
