18-year-old shot, killed in vehicle at Leesburg park, police say

An 18-year-old man died after being found shot inside a vehicle at Berry Park on Sunday afternoon, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

Police said they responded to the park located at 2121 Johns Avenue, around 12:56 p.m. regarding a possible shooting victim. When they arrived, officers discovered Juan Gomez Jr. inside the vehicle with at least one gunshot wound.

According to a news release, Leesburg Fire-Rescue and EMS also responded, but Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that they are following up on leads, but not other information was released.
