19-year-old accused of sexually assaulting woman near Universal CityWalk Orlando

A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman near Universal CityWalk Orlando on Monday, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police said they responded around 1 p.m. to a report of a possible sex crime on the sidewalk outside of Universal CityWalk Orlando.

The victim told the officer she exited CityWalk near Margaritaville around 1 p.m. and was walking alone along the sidewalk toward the Universal Orlando hotels.

Police said while walking under a bridge, an unknown man on a bright blue e-bike approached her from the left when she moved closer to the right side of the path to let him pass.

Instead of passing, the man slowed down and, without dismounting, reached his right hand between her legs and grabbed her genital area over her shorts. The victim was wearing thin yoga shorts and felt the suspect’s finger penetrate her through the fabric, according to the affidavit.

The victim told police that she immediately shouted, “Don’t touch me!” before the suspect rode away toward the resort area.

Shortly after, the victim found the suspect lying near some bushes on the left side of the path with his pants down, masturbating, according to the affidavit.

The victim told police that when he saw her with her cellphone out, he said, “Oh, sh*t!” pulled his pants up, and rode away on the e-bike.

The victim returned to the CityWalk security screening area and called the police.

According to the affidavit, provided a photograph she took of him the suspect at the scene and provided a physical description.

Orlando police said that Universal Orlando security located a man matching the suspect’s description riding near Hollywood Way and Turkey Lake Road. Orlando police then made contact with the suspect and placed him under arrest.

While making a court appearance, the suspect’s father alleged that his son has been diagnosed under the Baker Act and has mental health issues. Because of that, News 6 has decided not to show the suspect’s photo or name him.

The 19-year-old faces charges of sexual battery and exposure of sexual organs.

The investigation is ongoing.
