2 dead after submerged vehicle spotted in Palm Beach County canal.

Two people are dead after a vehicle was spotted in a canal early Sunday afternoon in Palm Beach County, emergency responders confirmed.

The victims are 21-year-old Colton Peter Gearhart and 21-year-old Sebastian Constatin Gedroye.

According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, someone called 911 around 12:20 p.m. and reported seeing the vehicle underwater, near the intersection of 130th Trail North and Hamlin Boulevard.

Fire Rescue personnel were on scene and in the water within three minutes, PBCFR explained, adding that Special Operations Units also arrived to help with dive operations.

Two people were located and brought to shore where they were pronounced dead, according to the agency.

Authorities have not said how long the vehicle may have been in the water. The person who originally alerted emergency responders had said they did not see the vehicle go in, the PBCFR statement noted.
