Firefighters put out flames at an apartment building in Wilton Manors after a caller reported that the roof had been struck by lightning, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said.
The scene was at a two-story apartment building in the area of Northeast 22nd Drive and 11th Avenue.
According to fire rescue, “the call came in reporting that the roof had been struck by lightning.”
When firefighters got there, residents reported a haze inside some of the units, and crews found some flames burning in the attic space.
“It was a small fire that did not spread too extensively and was out in 30 minutes,” fire rescue said.
No one was injured, but two residents who lived in one unit were displaced.
A fire investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire and whether or not it was a lighting strike.
