Two children were hospitalized after a vehicle struck two apartment buildings Tuesday morning.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to 911 calls stating a vehicle had struck an apartment building on Palm Bay Drive around 9:38 a.m.
Crews arrived and found a vehicle that had hit two apartment buildings.
According to HCFR, preliminary investigation uncovered that the driver backed into one apartment building before pulling forward into a second apartment, causing structural damage.
Firefighters secured the area, evacuated both buildings, and conducted searches to ensure no additional occupants were inside.
HCFR said two pediatric patients who were inside one of the impacted apartments were taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
During the search, crews also rescued a dog from one of the evacuated apartments.
HCFR and the Hillsborough County Code Enforcement assessed the structural integrity of the building.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
