2 killed, 1 critically injured when pickup truck hits group walking across US-1 in Bunnell, FHP says.

Charges are pending after a crash early Sunday in Bunnell that left two women dead and a man in the hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 12:15 a.m. at US-1 and State Road 100, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, a pickup truck being driven north on US-1 by a 51-year-old Palm Coast man struck three people walking across the rightmost northbound lane.

Of the three pedestrians, a 50-year-old Palm Coast woman and a 59-year-old Palm Coast woman were pronounced dead at the scene while a 48-year-old Bunnell man remains hospitalized in critical condition at last check, the report states. The driver of the pickup truck and his passenger, a 49-year-old Palm Coast woman, were not injured in the crash, according to FHP.

Troopers said the pickup truck failed to remain at the scene after the crash and was later located in the nearby parking lot of Terranova’s Pizzeria.
