2 killed, 1 hurt in Liberty City shooting; Miami police investigating.

Detectives with the Miami Police Department are investigating after three people were shot — two fatally — in the city’s Liberty City neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the agency said there were two scenes along Northwest 10th Avenue: One near 55th Street and another near 62nd Street, near MPD’s North District office.

According to Miami Fire Rescue, a man at the scene near Northwest 62nd Street was in “extremely critical condition” while a woman was in serious condition. At the scene, video shows investigators coming through a gray Nissan. The man later died at the hospital, police said.

The third victim, who was in a silver Chrysler 200, was killed. Video shows a yellow tarp covering the driver’s side door of the sedan.

“I was in bed and I just heard the gunshots go off, I thought they were shooting at my house so I jumped on the floor,” neighborhood resident Mykia Canty said. “It was a whole bunch of shots. It was really really fast.”

Investigators haven’t publicly identified any of the victims.

“If someone saw something knows something, please come forward so we can put the persons responsible for this violent crime behind bars,” Miami police Capt. Freddie Cruz said.

A cousin of the surviving victim told Local 10 News’ Bridgette Matter that she is expected to recover.
