2 people identified after deadly crash in waters of Marco Island

Two people who died in a boating crash along Caxambas Bay on Marco Island on Sunday have been identified.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Stephen R. Mariani, 67, and Rita Mariani, 49, struck a boat lift while traveling on a jet ski.

They were both ejected upon impact. They were both Marco Island residents.

The FWC said the crash remains under investigation, and officials are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information to call its Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).
