FHP: Car strikes 3-year-old girl in the road on Highway 29 in Escambia County

A 3-year-old girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car while in the road in Escambia County on Sunday.

The crash happened around 6 a.m. on Highway 29 near E Herman Avenue.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the girl was in the southbound lanes of Highway 29 when a car driven by a 42-year-old Pensacola woman struck her.

The child was transported to a the hospital in critical condition. The car driver was not injured.

FHP is continuing to investigate the crash.

No further details have been released about the circumstances of the incident.
