Five people were injured in a crash between a pickup truck and an SUV along State Road 780 (Fruitville Road) near Laceleaf Boulevard in Sarasota County.
The crash happened at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck, driven by a 28-year-old Sarasota man, was traveling east on SR-780 just east of Laceleaf Blvd.
An SUV, driven by a 68-year-old Naples woman, was traveling west on SR-780 before the crash.
FHP troopers said the pickup truck’s driver did not maintain a single lane and entered the westbound travel lane.
The front left of the pickup truck then collided with the front left of the SUV.
According to an FHP news release, the Sarasota man and Naples woman suffered serious injuries in the crash. Troopers said there were three teens from Fort Myers who were passengers in the SUV.
A 16-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy, and a 13-year-old boy all suffered serious injuries in the crash.
FHP said the crash is under investigation.
