3-vehicle crash in Belleview sends woman to hospital

A woman was hospitalized on Monday evening after her SUV was involved in a three-vehicle crash in Belleview.

Shortly after 8 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units in south Marion County were dispatched to the 10100 block of U.S. Highway 441 in reference to an accident involving a semi-truck, SUV, and Jeep. Multiple 911 callers reported that the driver of the SUV was entrapped, according to MCFR.

At around 8:05 p.m., several MCFR units arrived on scene and observed that the accident had occurred in front of the Taco Bell in Belleview.

MCFR stated that the drivers of the semi-truck and Jeep had exited their vehicles prior to the arrival of firefighters and paramedics. The female driver of the SUV was pinned between her vehicle and the semi-truck.

In addition, a small amount of diesel fuel was leaking from the semi-truck.

HAZMAT technicians quickly mitigated the small diesel fuel leak.

The southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 441, which were briefly blocked following the crash, reopened at 8:36 p.m.

No further details were provided by Marion County Fire Rescue.

The Belleview Police Department is currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
