3-year-old ejected from vehicle in 2-car crash at Ocala intersection

A 3-year-old was ejected from a vehicle and injured Tuesday night in a two-car crash in Ocala, police said.

The wreck happened around 8:35 p.m. at North Pine Avenue and NW 35th Street.

Ocala police said the child was taken to a hospital as a trauma-alert patient and was in stable condition.

No other details about the crash have been released.

Northbound lanes of Pine Avenue and all lanes of NW 35th Street were closed after the wreck.

Police initially stated that the victim was an infant but later issued a correction.

“UPDATE & CORRECTION: Last night, we reported that an infant was ejected from a vehicle in a crash. It was actually a 3-year-old child who was ejected. We apologize for the confusion and want to ensure that you have the most accurate information available. Thank you for your understanding,” an online post stated.

The crash is still under investigation.
