53-year-old Bicyclist critically injured in SUV collision in Santa Rosa County

A 53-year-old Navarre woman was critically injured Sunday afternoon after a crash involving a bicycle and an SUV at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Sunrise Drive in Santa Rosa County.

Troopers say the crash happened at 2:20 p.m. when a gray Hyundai SUV was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 98 through the intersection at Sunrise Drive when a bicyclist traveled southeast diagonally across the intersection from the northwest corner of Sunrise Drive.

The bicyclist entered the SUV’s travel path, and the SUV collided with the bicyclist, according to FHP.

The bicyclist, a 53-year-old Navarre woman, was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

The SUV driver, a 22-year-old Birmingham woman, was not injured.

No further details have been released.
