Homemade go-cart driver killed in Okaloosa County crash with pickup truck

A 32-year-old Crestview man was killed Friday night when the homemade go-kart he was driving collided with a pickup truck in Okaloosa County.

Troopers say the crash happened at 8:40 p.m. on Garden City Road about 100 feet south of Swan Avenue.

The man was traveling south on Garden City Road when the go-kart entered the west shoulder, according to FHP.

Troopers say the driver lost control, and the go-kart reentered the roadway directly into the path of a northbound pickup truck.

The pickup truck driven by a 26-year-old Crestview man’s left front struck the go-kart, and both vehicles came to rest near the crash site, according to FHP.

The go-kart driver died from his injuries.

The pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries.
