71-Year-Old Man Dead in Golf Cart Collision on U.S. 17 at Euclid Ave

A tragic incident unfolded in Crescent City, Florida, as a 71-year-old resident lost his life Wednesday afternoon when the golf cart he was riding in was struck by an SUV while crossing U.S. 17 at Euclid Avenue in Putnam County, according to troopers.

As detailed by the Florida Highway Patrol, the man on the golf cart initiated the crossing of US 17 from Euclid Avenue, which was controlled by a stop sign, and inadvertently moved into the path of the northbound SUV. The collision resulted in the SUV impacting the passenger side of the golf cart, ultimately leading to the man’s fatal injuries.

The report indicated that the 38-year-old Crescent City woman driving the SUV sustained minor injuries, along with a 16-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy who were also present in the vehicle. All occupants were properly secured with either seat belts or child restraints, as mentioned in the report.
