Shots fired at Lake City apartment complex, woman wounded

A woman was wounded after multiple shots were fired at an apartment complex in Lake City.

Officers say the FLOCK gunshot detection system, a series of microphones capable of identifying the sound of gunfire, reported shots fired at Cedar Park Apartments off Northwest Bascom Norris Drive in Lake City around 12:37 a.m. Friday.

A woman told officers that she was standing on her upstairs porch when a bullet struck her leg. She was treated on scene and then taken to a nearby hospital.

Officers also found evidence of bullets striking the apartment building and recovered five shell casings.

No suspects have been identified as of this report. Officers ask anyone with information to contact the Lake City Police Department at (386) 752-4343 or report information anonymously through the LCPD TIPS line at (386) 719- 2068 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at (386) 754-7099.

“We take every incident of gun violence seriously and are utilizing all available resources to identify those responsible,” said Chief of Police Gerald Butler. “The safety of our residents remains our top priority, and we encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
