Woman arrested for crashing into and killing pregnant woman while drunk

A middle school teacher was arrested Sunday for crashing into and killing a woman and her unborn child while she was drunk driving in February last year.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say 46-year-old CR was swerving in and out of her lane while driving down State Road 45 on February 16, 2024. They say that she crossed the double yellow line and crashed head-on into a woman’s pickup truck, killing her.

Troopers say that woman, 29-year-old Newberry resident AJ, was pregnant when she died.

They say R was drunk and tested positive for amphetamines. She was arrested Sunday, more than a year after the crash, and is facing two charges of DUI homicide.

R is listed on the teacher roster for Oak View Middle School in Newberry.
