Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers said they responded to a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown near Main Street and West University Avenue.
They said they placed tape around the crime scene to block civilians from entering where two individuals had been shot.
Officers said 35-year-old SB, of Gainesville, tore down the police tape and began yelling at law enforcement officers about unrelated issues.
They said B was causing a disturbance and outraging the public’s sense of decency with her disorderly conduct.
They said she ignored officers’ orders and began to run away. She fell on the sidewalk while being apprehended.
They said Burgess was sent to receive medical treatment for the injuries she got during the fall.
They said that while she was being treated, B became aggressive because she could not understand her charges.
They said she ran to the bathroom, exited, and pushed a law enforcement officer with both hands before escaping the hospital.
B was detained again outside the hospital in the parking lot and brought back inside to finish the discharge process. They said she was uncooperative with law enforcement.
B was booked into the Alachua County Jail around 4 a.m. Sunday on a $55,000 bond.
She faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, obstructing justice by tampering with evidence, resisting an officer without violence, disorderly conduct, and escape.
