One person is dead after a Tesla driver lost control and hit a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol announced.

Troopers responded to a crash on Goodman Drive and US-41 in Spring Hill around 3:37 a.m.

According to FHP, a Tesla Model 3, driven by a 21-year-old Land O Lakes man, was traveling southbound on US-41 when he failed to negotiate a curve.

The car then ran off the roadway before hitting a utility pole and then a tree.

FHP said that after the car came to a final rest, it became engulfed in flames.
