Motorcyclist dies after striking palm tree in Port St. Lucie crash

Motorcyclist dies after striking palm tree in Port St. Lucie crash

A 30-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after he allegedly lost control while navigating a curve on a Port St. Lucie road, ultimately striking a palm tree in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said that on Saturday at 2:15 a.m., officers responded to a motorcycle crash in the 2100 block of Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway.

PSLPD said that Eduardo Alejandro Medrano was riding his motorcycle southbound when he lost control while navigating a curve in the roadway.

According to the report, the motorcycle veered off the road and into the grassy shoulder, where it came to a rest on its left side.

During the crash, Eduardo, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was separated from his bike and struck a palm tree, suffering serious injuries, per PSLPD.

Officials said that Eduardo was then transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Authorities do not believe that excessive speed contributed to the crash, but they are continuing to investigate the possibility of driver impairment.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses video surveillance footage to contact them at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crimestoppers at (800) 273-8477.
