Woman killed in overnight shooting on Rover Drive, JSO investigating

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting early Saturday morning on the city’s Westside.

According to JSO, officers responded around 1 a.m. and found an adult woman with a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue pronounced her dead at the scene in the 5800 block of Rover Drive..

JSO said the shooting occurred during a party where a fight broke out and ended in gunfire. Multiple people have been detained as detectives work to determine the relationships between those involved.

The investigation remains active, with JSO working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office.
