A 78-year-old woman died Saturday afternoon after her car sideswiped a dumpster in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Officials said the woman from Palm Coast was traveling north on Robert Road at Orion Drive, then made a right turn onto Orion Drive.
For unknown reasons, she exited the car while it was still moving.
The car continued traveling off the road towards a dumpster.
FHP said the woman was partially inside the car and outside the car as it approached the dumpster.
Officials said the left side of the car sideswiped the dumpster, causing her to become trapped between the dumpster and the door frame of the car.
The driver died on the scene.
