Red Cross assists LaBelle family of 5 following house fire

A Southwest Florida family of five had their worlds turned upside down when a fire blazed through their home, leaving them with little to nothing.

It happened right off Vacaro Street in LaBelle, which is near LaBelle Middle School, on Saturday afternoon.

Now, WINK News is learning that the Red Cross assisted the family, which included two children.

Local American Red Cross volunteer members of the Disaster Action Team, from the Florida Gulf Coast to Heartland Chapter, initially responded to the home fire and helped coordinate emergency aid for the family.

Besides health and mental health services, Red Cross will give them financial assistance and support to meet their disaster-caused needs.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
