Panama City man arrested for aggravated battery on a pregnant woman

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance in Freeport following a frantic 911 call on Friday, July 4th.

Officials said deputies got out with the victim, who was on the side of the road near County Highway 3280 and Smokehouse Lake Road.

According to a WCSO Facebook post, the suspect, 43-year-old RS of Panama City, kneed the female in the stomach, knowing she was eight weeks pregnant. Steward then fled into the woods with the keys to their vehicle.

Walton County Correctional K-9 Teams responded, and S was tracked and apprehended.

S had felony warrants out of Bay County and Texas, officials confirmed. He was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail, where he is facing an additional charge for aggravated battery on a pregnant victim.

S was given a $25,000 bond and is awaiting extradition to Bay County.
