A Lake County sheriff’s deputy shot and injured a man during an apparent domestic violence incident.
The shooting happened at a home on Division Street off State Road 44, southwest of DeLand.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the home around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday.
News 6 community correspondent Mark Lehman early Wednesday spoke to the man’s wife, who said she left the home and called 911 because she was concerned for her safety.
Authorities responded to the home, and at least one deputy shot the man, who was armed with a gun, according to the wife.
The man was taken to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford in critical condition.
No deputies were injured.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting.
