A 27-year-old Tampa man was killed Tuesday night in a crash in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal two-vehicle wreck occurred around 9:40 p.m. at Valencia College Lane and Short Pine Circle, east of Goldenrod Road near Orlando.
According to an FHP crash report, the Tampa man was riding a motorcycle east on Valencia College Lane as a 38-year-old Orlando man drove an SUV west on the same road, both approaching Short Pine Circle.
The Orlando man tried to make a left turn to travel south on Short Pine Circle, entering the motorcyclist’s direct path, the report states. The motorcycle struck the SUV as a result, according to FHP.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead, the report states. Troopers believe he was not wearing a helmet.
The SUV driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
Valencia College Lane was blocked in the area and FHP is still investigating.
