Person burned, 4 cats killed in Weeki Wachee house fire

 A person was taken to a hospital with minor burns and four cats were killed in a Weeki Wachee house fire on Tuesday evening.

The Hernando County Fire Rescue said it was called to Goldeneye Road around 7 p.m. for a house fire.

While responding to the scene, crews learned that multiple pets were inside the home and a person had been possibly burned.

Crews said they initiated an aggressive offensive strategy and quickly knocked down the flames.

One person was taken to a hospital with minor burn injuries. Five cats were removed from the home, but four of them died.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
