Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation into an “apparent murder-suicide” in the county’s unincorporated Tamiami area.
Deputies surrounded a home in the 1000 block of Northwest 127th Path just after 10:30 a.m.
Authorities said the 29-year-old woman was found shot dead in a driveway. Her 48-year-old boyfriend was the suspected gunman, they said.
Meanwhile, moments after receiving reports of the shooting, authorities received a 911 call about a crash along Southwest 107th Avenue and Third Street in Sweetwater.
An MDSO spokesperson said one of the drivers, the suspect in the shooting, shot himself and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
“MDSO Homicide Bureau detectives were able to determine that the parties involved are a boyfriend and girlfriend; however, the circumstances as to why the shooting occurred are still under investigation,” an agency news release states.
It also wasn’t clear whether he shot himself before or after crashing his vehicle.
Deputies said their investigation was ongoing as of Friday afternoon. They have not released the names of either the gunman or the victim.
