A 14-year-old boy in Florida admitted to killing his parents during an argument, according to deputies.
In a news conference, Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said the parents were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds in their Middleburg home on Monday morning.
The victims were identified as DL, 44, and BS, 45.
The sheriff said their son, 14-year-old TL, walked to a nearby church to call 911 just after midnight Monday to report that he “just killed his parents.”
The teen told the dispatcher that he would wait at the church to be arrested, according to the sheriff.
Deputies simultaneously responded to the home and to the church.
When deputies responded to the home, found the gun left at the scene. Officials believe it was the parents’ gun that was used.
“It appears that there was some sort of domestic argument between TL and his parents last night, and this shooting culminated from that argument,” Cook said.
The sheriff said TL and his parents were the only people in the home at the time of the shooting.
The teenager was taken into custody.
Further information was not available as the investigation is ongoing.
