A person was found dead inside a car that was engulfed in flames Monday in southwest Miami-Dade, officials said.
Deputies responded to a vehicle fire at around 7:22 p.m. in a Walmart parking lot in the area of Southwest 136th Avenue and 288th Street, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue eventually responded to the scene and extinguished the flames.
A person, whose gender is currently unknown, was found inside the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
“We were going to Walmart right here and we just heard like a boom, a big boom… but the car was driving, so it’s very weird for a car to explode without anything else happening after that,” one woman said.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Homicide investigators responded to the scene.
