An 83-year-old Miami Beach man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed a woman at a senior housing complex, police said.
JG was arrested Monday on an attempted second-degree murder charge in the incident that happened at the Rebecca Towers at 150 Alton Road, an arrest report said.
According to the report, Miami Beach Police officers responded to the building after receiving a report that a woman was stabbed during a physical altercation with a male tenant.
Officers found the victim “profusely bleeding from the head and chest area with what appeared to be a stab wound to the torso,” the report said.
She also had a possible laceration to the back of her head and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.
G was found by officers and detained a short time later.
Officers spoke with a witness who said she heard screaming and saw O yelling for help while holding her chest and bleeding.
G was following behind her while another woman was trying to restrain him, the witness said, according to the report.
The witness said she pulled the victim inside her apartment while another witness called 911.
Another witness said building employees told her the victim was last seen going to speak to G about a failed inspection and the state of his apartment, the report said.
That witness said she saw G with his pants covered in blood after the stabbing.
Investigators also obtained surveillance video that showed the victim speaking with G and G’s girlfriend outside his apartment.
The video showed him pull a folding knife out of his pocket and attack the victim, the report said.
The victim was able to wrestle the knife away and throw it down the hall before staggering away and holding her chest as blood streamed out, the report said.
G was seen following behind her and pulling another knife out of his pocket while trying to lunge at the victim from behind, the report said.
G was booked into jail and appeared in court on Tuesday, where he was ordered held without bond until his next hearing.
The victim was in stable condition, police said.
