A father who tried to intervene in a domestic violence incident between his daughter and her boyfriend was shot by the boyfriend, who ran away from the scene, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said they were called to a home on Ahmad Drive North in the Magnolia Gardens area around 6:30 p.m. Thursday after a report that someone had been shot.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his chest and leg.
Police said they learned that the man was trying to stop a domestic violence incident between his daughter and her boyfriend when the boyfriend fired multiple shots at him and then ran off in an unknown direction.
Detectives responded to the scene, canvassed the area for video surveillance, and spoke with witnesses.
Police said the shooting is an isolated incident, but the shooter had not been taken into custody as of midnight Friday.
