The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting that took place early Saturday morning at a home in Ensley.
Deputies received a call at a home on Castlegate Drive around 4:00 a.m. where they say a man was found with a gunshot wound to the face and was transported to the hospital. His condition remains unknown.
According to the ECSO, a woman present at the home stated she had been invited over by the man. During the evening, he ordered a Lyft driver for her and began acting strangely.
The woman reported that the man pulled a gun on her, leading to a struggle over the weapon. During the altercation, the gun discharged, striking the man in the face. She then called 911.
The Sheriff’s Office said the woman’s statements were corroborated by the evidence found at the scene, including the gun located inside the home.
Investigators, along with the State Attorney’s Office, determined that the woman’s actions were in self-defense, and no charges will be filed against her.
