Hillsborough firefighters rescue dog from burning townhome

Hillsborough firefighters rescue dog from burning townhome

Someone is holding their fur baby extra tight tonight, all thanks to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Crews responded to a townhouse on Ashburn Lake Drive at around 9 a.m. on Saturday after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a car on fire in one of the garages.

Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames in the two-story home and went to work on putting out the car fire so it wouldn’t spread any further.

During a search of the home, they found an unresponsive dog, but quick actions by first responders helped save the pup.

Paramedics at the scene administered oxygen and first aid, successfully reviving the dog, who was reunited with its owner and taken to a local vet for further care.

Fortunately, no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, HCFR said.
