3 rescued from St. Augustine Inlet after boat capsizes, firefighters say

Early Wednesday morning, multiple agencies worked together to rescue three people from the St. Augustine Inlet after their boat capsized.

According to the St. Augustine Fire Department, city firefighters, deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and first responders with St. Johns County Fire Rescue were called around 4:15 a.m. to an area offshore of the North Shoals in the St. Augustine Inlet.

St. Augustine Fire Boat M-49 found three people in the water and because of the conditions, a rescue swimmer helped get them onto the fire boat.

One of the three was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

According to SAFD, none of the three were wearing personal flotation devices.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating.
