Drivers on I-95 South in St. Johns County experienced heavy backups near International Golf Parkway spanning almost three miles on Monday afternoon.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office told News4JAX that two people ran from a traffic stop, and deputies are still searching for one of them.
A Florida Department of Transportation camera showed several patrol cars near mile marker 320.
Those vehicles drove away just after 5 p.m., but backups were still lingering.
