A home was damaged by a fire ignited by a lightning strike in The Villages.
Neighbors called in to report the blaze which broke out at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 4100 Block of Silvana Way in the Charlee Villas in the Village of DeLuna.
The Villages Public Safety Department responded and firefighters observed heavy flames engulfing the roof area above the garage. Engine 46 promptly initiated an aggressive interior attack on the fire, while additional crews conducted a thorough primary search of the residence. Fortunately, no one was in the home.
“This incident highlights the critical importance of timely reporting and swift action from our firefighters,” said Fire Chief Brian Twiss. “We are grateful that no one was harmed, and I commend our teams for their quick actions and effective response.”
There have been 11 homes in The Villages struck by lightning in the past 12 months.
