Relative rushes teen boy to hospital after Wynwood shooting; 1 detained

Miami police are investigating after a teenage boy was shot Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at approximately 4:38 p.m. in the area of North Miami Avenue and 31st Street in the city’s Wynwood neighborhood.

According to police, officers received a call regarding a boy who was shot and rushed to the scene.

Investigators determined that an argument between two step-brothers over clothing led to the gunfire.

Police said a family member took the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Officials have since provided an update, saying the boy is 13 or 14 years old and that he is listed in stable condition.

Authorities said one person has been detained, but did not say whether that person would be charged.

An investigation into the shooting remains open and active.
