Fiery crash leaves two injured in Tampa

Fiery crash leaves two injured in Tampa

Two people were injured in a fiery crash Saturday morning in Tampa, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened on Saturday at around 9:20 a.m. and held up traffic as first responders worked to clear the scene.

A 54-year-old Tampa man was driving a single-unit dump truck, traveling on the access road leading from US-301 to westbound I-4 and US-92.

The man lost control of the truck and collided with a median wall, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire. The force of the crash sent concrete flying into the path of a Ford sedan, driven by a 21-year-old Lake Mary man.

The sedan collided with the concrete and ended up along the shoulder of the highway, FHP said.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the truck driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
