Woman strikes toddler while backing out of driveway, killing him: Plant City police

A toddler died after he was struck by a car in a Plant City neighborhood on Tuesday.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of East Ohio Street at around 10 a.m., according to a release from the Plant City Police Department.

Police said a woman was backing out of a driveway and did not see the boy standing behind her vehicle. The toddler suffered fatal injuries after he was struck.

“The Plant City Police Department shares our condolences to the affected family,” police said. “They are in our prayers during this difficult time.”

Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing. No charges have been announced in connection to the toddler’s death.
