Man accused of DUI after crashing car in North Port school pickup line

A Port Charlotte man was arrested and accused of DUI after crashing his car into another car in the pickup line at a North Port school on Friday.

North Port police say that TW, 29, crashed his car into another in the student pickup line at Atwater Elementary School.

Police say W told them he crashed his car and that he was too drunk to complete standard field sobriety tests. This is Williams’ third reported DUI.

W was transported to North Port ER, and after being medically cleared, he was arrested and taken to jail.

He faces charges of DUI, third offense, and driving with a suspended license with knowledge, as his license is suspended on account of his previous two DUIs.

Gulf Coast News reached out to North Port authorities for more information, who advised that a full incident report will not be available until Monday.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
