A dump truck driver was killed in a rollover crash on an exit ramp to Interstate 595 from the Florida’s Turnpike in Davie on Thursday.
The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. when the dump truck’s driver somehow lost control on the ramp from the southbound Turnpike lanes to I-595, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The truck hit a concrete barrier wall, rotated clockwise and overturned onto its left side.
The driver wasn’t wearing a safety belt and was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, FHP officials said.
His identity wasn’t released but officials said he was a 64-year-old man from Miami Lakes.
The exit ramp was closed for several hours while an investigation was underway and the scene was cleared.
