Stretch of Indian River Drive closed after deadly motorcycle crash

UPDATE: Indian River Drive has reopened, per deputies.

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning in a crash on Indian River Drive, which is now closed for investigation.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO), the deadly crash happened at 10:50 a.m. in the 5500 block of S Indian River Drive in Fort Pierce.

The victim, who’s identity has not been released, was pronounced dead when first responders arrived, per deputies.

Indian River Drive was subsequently closed between Walton Road and Midway Road while the Florida Highway Patrol conducts an investigation.

Deputies urge drivers to seek alternate routes. Deputies say more information will be provided as it is made available.
