Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene of a traffic crash near Quail Roost Drive and Southwest 117th Avenue just after 6 p.m., Friday.

Deputies arrived to find a smashed-up black Lexus sedan and a gray GMC SUV with heavy back-end damage.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the Lexus was killed on impact. Paramedics airlifted the child passenger in the Lexus to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Crews also transported the four people inside the GMC to a nearby hospital. As of Saturday night, their conditions are unknown.
