A single-vehicle crash early Sunday in Volusia County left a driver dead and her passenger badly hurt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 2:04 a.m. on State Road 415, south of State Road 44, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, a 2008 Ford Fusion was traveling north on S.R. 415 — driven by a 23-year-old Cocoa woman with a 21-year-old Edgewater man riding as a passenger, neither of them wearing seat belts — when it ran off the roadway to the right for unknown reasons.
The front of the Ford then struck a tree, the report states.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the man was hospitalized in critical condition, troopers said.
FHP is still investigating.
