1 Florida driver dead after vehicles collided nearly head-on: Florida Highway Patrol

One person is dead after a vehicle collided with another in Sumter County on Saturday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, around 11:17 a.m. a Toyota Prius, driven by a 63-year-old man was traveling south on State Road 471.

Meanwhile, a tractor-trailer, driven by a 32-year-old man was traveling north on SR-471.

FHP said that North of SR-50, the driver of the Prius crossed the centerline into the path of the tractor-trailer, for unknown reasons, colliding with it nearly head-on.

The 63-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, reported FHP.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.
