One dead, several injured in Marion County crash

Florida Highway Patrol says one man died and several others were injured in a crash early Saturday at 2:40 a.m. on County Road 42, west of Southeast 160 Avenue Road.

Investigators say a 29-year-old female from Altoona, traveling east in her pickup truck, crossed into the westbound lane and struck a sedan.

The driver of the sedan, a 40-year-old man from Belleview, was dead when troopers arrived.

The driver of the pickup truck, her passenger, a 22-year-old man from Clermont, and the unidentified passenger in the sedan were all transported to HCA Hospital Ocala with serious injuries.

The passenger in the sedan is said to be in critical condition.
