Wellington man accused hitting pregnant woman with vehicle over parking dispute

A Wellington man is accused of hitting a visibly pregnant woman with his vehicle while she tried to hold a parking spot.

According to a criminal complaint from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO), on October 3, the pregnant woman was leaving Cooper’s Hawk and found a parking spot in front of the building. The woman explained to deputies she had to carry items from inside the store, and her husband was going to move the vehicle to the spot she was holding.

The arrest report says that’s when the suspect, identified as BP, 45, pulled his vehicle into the parking space. The criminal complaint continues, the woman explained she was waiting for her husband and saving the spot. That’s when the man shook his head and proceeded to pull forward, causing the vehicle to strike her knee.

The vehicle striking her knee caused the victim to move back and lose her shoe, the arrest report reads. The woman told deputies that if she didn’t move, she feared she would have been run over, the arrest report states.

The affidavit says, Coconut Creek Fire Rescue responded to the scene, assessed the victim’s knee, and determined that the pregnant woman did not require transport.

P was booked on counts of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.
